Year 7 student Caedon finished off the 2023 windsurf season with a National Wind Sports Championship WIN and takes home a silver medal awarded in the Techno 5.8m class.
Raced at Grafham Water Reservoir which is the UK’s biggest windsurfing event with over 170 competitors. Despite a big change of conditions to flat water and strong 25 knot winds, Caedon secured a clean run of first and second places taking him easily into a silver place by a clear 2 points, with only a few points behind gold medal position.
Caedon’s commitment secured him a place in Royal Yachting Association’s Regional Training Group for a second year running. Windsurfers area selected on their performance and commitment to a programme of training and competition over a period of time. The Royal Yachting Association are actively support young, selected windsurfers to progress through British Youth Windsurfing with the aim of applying for UK Youth Squads.
This starts with a series of winter training camps around the UK which are intense and involve a range of activities including time on the water, fitness training, classroom theory and work with specialist support staff and coaches. Caedon has been utilising weekends as an opportunity to try larger rigs and different windsurf disciplines with his coaches.
