Last Wednesday, our Sixth Form Students attended the SOAS University for the RSAA (Royal Society for Asian Affairs) Sixth Form lecture Day on Asia.
The itinerary for the day included presentations from speakers with broad backgrounds, lecturers from prestigious Universities and Firms, and passion-driven Entrepreneurs. All the speakers delivered very enthusiastic and academically stimulating presentations, our students were highly engaged throughout the day.
The presentations covered an extensive range of interests such as political affairs, economics, humanities, and international law. A few headliners included “The economic effects of geopolitical decisions in the Middle East” and an empowering talk on “Women’s education in Asia”. Perhaps the most eminent of the speakers was Mr. Iain Frew, the ambassador for Vietnam, who offered all the Sixth Form students that attended from various schools’ an insight into his home country and role in international politics for the UK.
Students were encouraged to participate in independent thinking and were given a chance to ask in-depth questions directly to the speakers. In addition, we were given a choice between an introduction to the Arabic or Mandarin language, complementary to the university’s ethos. Overall, the day was a diverse and unique experience that allowed a glimpse into university standard education and topics that will challenge you as an academic intellectually, as well as a taste of what being a student in university and attending lectures can be like.
We are now accepting applications for September 2023 entry and offering a limited number of 100% bursaries for Sixth Form. If you would like more information about our Sixth Form or would like to register your child, please contact our Admissions Team here.
