Remembrance Day 2021

18th November 2021
Day of Remembrance 2021

To honour Remembrance Day 2021, Eaton Square pupils focused on the poppy: a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.

While the Prep and Nursery children sewed poppies onto patchwork quilts, created poppy paintings and made eye-catching outdoor displays; students from every year group at the Senior School collaborated to produce a majestic display of poppies (each featuring a message of remembrance or quotes from war time poems) for the School entrance. All were dedicated to honouring those who gave their lives in war. The sound of the bugle playing The Last Post at 11am throughout the Prep building, with the whole School falling silent, was particularly poignant.

On Remembrance Sunday itself, the Head Boy and Head Girl of both Eaton Square Prep School and Eaton Square Senior School were invited to lay wreathes at the Remembrance Service in Grosvenor Gardens on behalf of the Schools. They were joined by Eaton Square Schools’ Principal Mr Hepher and Prep Head Mrs Watt.

‘When you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow we gave our today.’ – Extract from The Old Issue by Rudyard Kipling
