All pupils taking instrumental lessons were invited to attend this exciting new concert featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the internationally acclaimed French pianist Elizabeth Sombart at Cadogan Hall, conducted by Pierre Vallet.
The programme had at its heart the fabulously romantic adagio movements from piano concertos by Chopin, Mozart, Grieg and Rachmaninov. Enhanced by special lighting effects, the concert featured many of the most celebrated and uplifting works in the orchestral repertoire, some of which were readily familiar from, Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro Overture to Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto, Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite and dances by Tchaikovsky and Brahms. An inspiring and moving performance enjoyed by all.
Tom and Georges in Year 7 particularly enjoyed the concert and have asked if we can go again! Please do speak with them about the trip if you get the chance.
