Upping the Game – School Report Magazine

Why the opening of Eaton Square Upper School this September is an exciting one for the education industry.

Eaton Square School was established in 1981 and has been providing outstanding nursery, pre-preparatory and preparatory education for its pupils since the beginning – but the opening of its first co-educational, independent senior school is a whole new world.

‘There are very few independent co-educational senior schools in central London at the moment – and none in Mayfair,’ points out Eaton Square Upper’s Headmaster, Phillip Williams, who will oversee its grand opening in September. ‘So first and foremost we want to endure we are fulfilling a very clear need for more schools that can meet the requirements of families in the area. I hope, in a few years’ time, Eaton Square Upper School will be the first choice not just for parents in and around Mayfair, but for any London parent seeking a well-rounded, hands-on education for their children that’s built in a combination of holistic and traditional values, tailored specifically to meet the needs of modern children’.

Based at 106 Piccadilly, Eaton Square Upper School is located in a stunning Grade I listed building directly opposite Green Park. The building boasts an array of original features from ornate ceiling murals and cornicing, to grand stone staircases with a wrought iron balustrade. ‘Having such a fantastic locations means we’ll be able to take advantage of a wealth of resources right on our doorstep,’ Williams adds. ‘So whether its sports lessons on Green Park, drama workshops in local theatres or simply soaking up the culture, we are in the ideal position to do it all.’

As with all of the Eaton Square schools, the Upper School will take into consideration that all of its students are individuals with their own specific needs, challenged and goals. The school will tailor its learning environments to ensure they provide a relaxed and nurturing space in which students can grow and develop. ‘One of the most exciting and unique things about Eaton Square Upper is that we are starting completely from scratch, yet we still have very well established network of feeder schools,’ Williams says. ‘This means we can be very flexible when creating the right kind of culture, whilst taking all the very best qualities from our existing schools and replicating them. The school will be a place that encourages, inspires and drives a passion for learning across all areas.’ With Eaton Square Schools 40th anniversary not too far away, this latest instalment in its successful history is certainly one to watch.
