Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is the cornerstone of an Eaton Square education. By demonstrating warmth, kindness, compassion and encouragement, we give students the perfect conditions to thrive.

Form Tutors are the primary point of contact for students and their parents, and their role is to champion students while monitoring their emotional wellbeing and academic progress. Form Time and Assemblies are an extension of our Wellbeing Curriculum, providing space to explore relevant pastoral areas.

Form Tutors are supported in this role by Heads of Section to ensure each individual is provided with an outstanding level of tailored pastoral care.

Heads of Section and Form Time

Each Year Group is split into smaller Forms, these meet promptly with their Form Tutors at 8.30am, every morning. This is an important time for students to discuss their progress. All students participate in the Form Time and Assembly schedule, which is an extension of our Wellbeing Curriculum and focuses on relevant pastoral areas.

The Heads of Section are responsible for overseeing their Section of the School and work with Form Tutors to ensure an outstanding level of pastoral care tailored to the needs of each individual is provided.

Wellbeing

Wellbeing is a weekly timetabled lesson for all students, where they are encouraged to lead healthy and responsible lives. Lessons are delivered by teaching staff and visiting speakers, covering a range of moral, spiritual, cultural and political issues, such as safer use of technology, positive body image and managing anxiety.

Student Leadership

In line with our emphasis on leadership skills, students in Years 7, 8 and 9 participate in a weekly Preparation for Life lesson to help develop a clear understanding of their own and others’ strengths. Students are also encouraged to apply for one of the many leadership opportunities the school offers, such as Form Captain and positions on the School Council, while the Year 11 Leadership Team provides a strong link between staff and students.

Student Voice

Eaton Square students all have a voice in shaping the school’s future. From developing a new House system to considering student leadership structures within the school, our students are given the freedom to devise and express brilliant ideas, with many transformed into reality.
