Reception
For Eaton Square Prep School Nursery Children
- Priority admission: Children attending our nurseries have priority entry for Reception.
- Informal assessment: This takes place within their nursery classroom and is play-based, so the children are unaware they are being assessed.
For External Nursery Children
- Assessment: This is a positive, play-based experience. There is no formal test; the aim is to observe the children as they engage freely with activities and peers.
- Nursery report and reference: We require a report and/or reference from your child’s current nursery school before the assessment. This provides additional insight into their development and experiences.
- Parent meeting with the Headmistress: You will meet with Trish Watt to discuss your child’s interests and home life. This meeting helps us understand your child’s unique personality and needs.
Occasional Places
For children applying for Year 1 places and above, and/or during the academic year, places are allocated based on:
- The latest report and/or reference from your child’s current school.

- A CAT4 test (for Year 3 and above).
- An English as an additional language assessment (if applicable).
