A Levels and EPQ
Our rigorous focus on fulfilling academic potential is a key factor that sets us apart from Sixth Form colleges.
This is supported by:
A high level of contact time – Students receive up to seven lessons every week of teaching time in each subject.
Timetabled revision and study periods – Throughout the week, students have timetabled, supervised sessions for revision and study.
Fortnightly assessments to rain check progress – Every two weeks, students have light touch monitoring to check progress and to identify areas for development. Where necessary, we put support structures in place and maintain close contact with parents.
Keeping parents’ informed – Every half-term, we update parents on student progress either by grades, reports or parents’ evenings.
Students typically choose 3 A levels with the possibility of a fourth A Level.
At interview stage, we hold an in-depth discussion with every student to ensure that their A level choices will put them on the right track for their future university and chosen career. In addition to the A levels, students follow our bespoke ‘Programme for Life’ course and can take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is highly respected by universities.
With the support of our staff, and we make every effort to timetable a student’s chosen A Level subject combination. In contrast, most Colleges and schools require students to choose subjects from fixed option blocks.
Below are some of the subjects we offer. We have the flexibility to offer others on demand. Reflecting our diverse, cosmopolitan community, a number of our students also take A levels in languages in which they are fluent.
- Art and Design
- Business Studies
- Computer Science
- English Literature
- Government and Politics
